increased consciousness -> decreased awareness (?)

this sounds silly at first, but hear me out.

i noticed that you have some of the biggest aha moments, when you are not consciously paying attention to the subject of your interest. if you are paying attention (not to be confused with obsessing), the awareness happens gradually, which is great, but it doesn't seem to have the same impact as a sudden and sharp realization has. and somehow, the sharper the impact, the greater the awareness.

a little bit like, if you keep repeating a word, after a while it doesn't seem to make any sense anymore, whereas a completely banal word you never paid any attention to, can pop out and raise your awareness to its obvious and hidden meanings.

in a TF context, maybe one reason behind our suffering is that we are faced with a sharp impact, bc the universe knows that we'd be too lazy to put laborious effort into gradually raising our awareness?

anyhow, back to the title of the thread, obviously consciousness is awareness, but at times it does feel like one cancels the other.

I always seem more aware when I am down, upset, sad, etc... happiness isn't so great for me it is a big going-away.

I would say to me it's always seemed to be the other way round but we are probably using opposing terminology for the same meanings.

s'all relative though...relatively speaking...words are wordy.
Pragmatism, quantifying...the "mind" gets in its own way.
When dealing with intense and frequent "synchronicity", connecting "waking life" and "dream" related events, including lucid dream experiences..and other..."things"... specially when the intensity and frequency are growing exponentially, you stop looking and...I dunno...."tune"...disengage from perceptual filters, sometimes with ease and sometimes...well...the mind gets in its own way...at least for me anyways....whatever I am.
