That's interesting. I get the feeling at times I'm in the so-called 'observer trap' where the observer is mind. That's usually at the beginning of a sitting and while engaging an object of focus. When deeper into a sitting, and especially in open/choiceless awareness the feeling is of 'stepping' outside of the observer trap. It's a very distinct and different feel. Stark even. It almost feels like a transition to an inky blackness if I had to put it into words. That's also where I sometimes experience a 'sensation' (don't have a better word for it) of accelerating and in all directions simultaneously if that makes sense.
