Do you think it is possible he gets your hints and backs out at the last minute because he feels nervous?

I think this is very possible. But the night before last, I sent him a text message telling him how I felt about him, in a classy, professional and direct--but not too direct way. I asked him yesterday if he got the message (as he was behaving like normal) and he told me that he did). So, now I am quite sure he knows what I want. Now, it's just a matter of sitting back and letting things unfold naturally. It was very scary, but it definitely was a load off my chest---especially since it didn't turn him off. I can breathe a little easier now.
I'm not posting what I texted him, as it is my way of guarding my heart from any negativity. As the one guy said on one of these pages stated, I do have to take some personal responsibility for how I go about this without getting advice on every little thing I do. Good advice.

Fire7, that is great progress. Personal responsibility - it may feel a little scary but it is your life, your power and you are wise to guard yourself a little.

Now, I believe it is best to get it out in the open early on because the other person might look elsewhere if your interest is unknown.
