Tribute to Roger Ebert

No he hasn't left the building-earth.

Though he's had massive surgery, and cannot talk, eat anymore.
Except thru a tube or communicate like Steven Hawking

Yet he still attends movies in theaters despite his physical challenges.

No reviewer possesses his wonderful wit and sincere love of films.
No reviewer has shared so much. His film festivals & books.
None is as widely respected or quoted.

The US will lose a great , unique voice, when he leaves...
And I doubt anyone will equal his insight or knowledge.
Some film critics treat films like an autopsy,
and are as fun-interesting as a law textbook.

As a writer I love the guy. His reviews while often debatable ,
and reflecting personal bias,
are never dull, and most always elicit a giggle.
Ya gotta love a guy,
this funny-intelligent-compassionate, who truly loves movies.

There may be more scholarly reviewers, and certainly are.. but none are more entertaining...

And he didn't win a Pulitzer Prize for nothing.
I hope others appreciate his wit as much as I do.

Yep, his wit is unique among critics, and rarely truly caustic, unlike many.
And while he can occasionally be biased, shortsighted, his genuine love for films is always evident.
The only review I typically seek out.
