Discussion on Dhruva Maharaja

The following is a story about a well known ascetic:

"Dhruva Maharaja undertook severe penances in order to realize God. During the first month of his yoga practice, he ate only fruit and berries every third day and that only to keep body and soul together. In this way his worship of the Supreme Personality of Godhead began. In the second month Dhruva Maharaja ate only once every six days, and he ate only dry grass and leaves. Thus he continued his worship. In the third month he simply drank water once every nine days, and he remained completely in trance, worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead who is adored by selected verses. He had no thought but God."

I would like to put this up for discussion; what can we learn, what can we observe, how do you view this, what's your opinion of this?

Though this is not a Christian example, the fairness of God extends over to everyone. The fervency of Dhruva Maharaja was such that he wanted to meet God personally and was ready to put everything on the line. The point here is "experience for yourself."

Jeremiah 29:12-14
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.
