Greetings Avalon34:

I was raised AnglicanCatholic--better known to most as Episcopalian. I was always intensely aware of the Spirit surrounding me and extremely drawn to Forrests and MotherMoon.

I realized at an early age that my feelings, intuitions, uncommon knowlege, and constant questioning of everything was frowned upon and most unwelcome--but it did not deter me. My ability to read and understand the Bible was (also) discouraged and I was once called-out in front of the Congregation and told directly that I should defer to the Church Elders and trust in their interpretations to direct my thinking. LOL They truly did not know me well and apparently did not care to discuss it further.

My path to the Goddess began when the Bishop told me in Bible class (in front of my Children) that all Jehovah's Wittnesses were going to Hel (forgive me CroneMother). I decided that I did not believe that and did not want my Children subjected to that kind of thinking by an authority figure who was supposed to represent wisdom.

I decided to go back to the origins of Jesus and try to gain insight to how he would feel about this by studying what I thought he might have studied as a Child and young Adult.

I first met the Goddess in the Kabbalah and the rest (as they say) is History.

I have been a practicing Pagan for nearly 10 Wheels-of-the-Year and a legally ordained Priestess for nearly 5. I began practicing with heavy Christian overtones--evolved to a total Matriarchal practice--and evolved (again) to a more balanced duality of Female and Male influence.

Blessed be the path of your choice and good luck w/ your paper!

Just a little bit of info concerning goddess worship, Avalon.

I live in a very ancient landscape and, near to me, is a henge [ Thornborough Henge ] which is as old as Stonehenge and older than the pyramids, built about 5000 years ago. It was the spiritual centre of neolithic Britain. Around 5th century BC, it was in the territory of the Brigantes [ Celts ] and the goddess was Brigantia [ also named Brigid, Brigit ] She was a pan-European goddess honoured in all the Celtic lands. Last two years, I have celebrated Beltane there with local pagans and Brigantia is invoked - so not a goddess who has faded into history.
