Cleansing in Ziploc bags?

I, perhaps because I'm a newb, feel a bit goofy even posting this, but what the hey - it's said there's no such thing as a stupid question.

I'd like to give my crystals a nice revitalizing bath, and after a bit of reading I've decided the most convenient and least risky (given I'm still unclear as to the sensitivities of some of the minerals) way for me to do this is as follows:

1. Green quartz, chrysocolla-in-quartz, milky(?) quartz and clear quartz point -> sea salted spring water in both sun and moonlight
2. Apophyllite (set of 5 gridstone) -> same as above***
3. Amethyst, labradorite, citrine and black tourmaline -> plain spring water in moonlight only

While the above doesn't impact my question, I am open to feedback/advice about it

Now for the question, indicated in the topic. At first I had considered putting my crystals in jars by my window, but this is impractical because of my very active jumper of a cat - I'd have a mess of salt and water, and maybe even broken glass on my bed in no time. In any case the window ledge is too narrow to comfortably place anything there. I also prefer not to put my crystals outside, as I've gotten to be quite protective of them. The only practical way I can think of to do this the way I wish is to enclose the crystals in something that will fit between window and screen: Ziploc bags.

This seems rather stifling and undignified, but maybe I'm just projecting. Do the stones really care?

***Why soak the apophyllites separately? It just "feels" right, being that I've made them mission specialists of a sort

this is the way I do it,

I put ALL of my stones out on the porch in the full moon night and bring them in in the morning......

I also put my clear quartz out in the direct sun and rinse them (also put clear quartz out in the full moon)......... I will also put my clear quartz out in thunderstorms..........

besides that, sometimes I will blow the smoke of white sage over my crystals.

This is the way I do it.

also, forgot to mention, because I cleanse my clear quartz more than any other crystal I have, I will place my jewelry and other tumblestones on top of my clear quartz cluster to be cleansed and charged!

believe me, I was new to this crystal stuff before and I used to cleanse my stones in a salt water solution and I would also let them sit out in the sun, but my colored crystals faded that way..........and I don't like my crystals getting wet, except for my clear quartz. because there are so many crystals out there that aren't supposed to get wet.... so because I have so many crystals, I just do it the easy way, where I don't have to worry about it.

I do wish I could have gotten more consensus from the various sites... I confess I'm enamored of using water; I suppose it brings back memories of watching water rushing over pebbly streambeds None of the sites I visited seemed to indicate any risk with wetting the few crystals I do currently own.

The window I'm keeping my crystals in only gets filtered light at midday, thanks to the trees, and nothing direct in late afternoon, btw.

At least one site claimed that cleansing could be done merely with intention. I may switch to that method when I feel I'm in the right state spiritually.

that sounds good the way you're cleansing them.

well to answer your question, I think the Ziploc bags would be just fine........

it doesn't matter what you place the crystals in, as long as you're cleansing and charging them.... that's all that matters....

the sun and the moon can shine through the clear plastic just fine, I would think.....

The apophyllites have a tough job, so I'm probably going to give them extra time, but I imagine 48-ish hours will be a good interval for the rest of my entourage I don't intend to do much 'work' with them, mostly I mean to meditate with them, hold them, "sing" (for lack of a better word) to them, and just be around them

what are you doing with the apophyllites?

Intention is definitely a main component of cleansing.

There's also a thread in this forum about cleansing with sound, which is something you might be interested in reading through. You could use chimes, tingshas, a singing bowl, tuning forks, etc, or even sounds played on your computer (there are lots of cleansing tones on Youtube).

My father, with whom I, along with my Mom and one of my sisters, am still compelled to live, has a deep shadow on him. I'd heard a radio show guest extolling the virtues of crystal cleansing and specifically talking of using a grid of apophyllites in the home to clean such things, so I decided to give it a go.

While perusing the online crystal shop, I saw how inexpensive amethyst was compared to my uninformed fear, and so eagerly got one of those as well (I suspect I've been very 3rd-eye active since childhood, for various reasons)

I have heard of people chattering to and with their crystals, but never ' singing ' to them . Next thing I know you will tell me .... they sing along with you, lol !
