"The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen

I love the fact that it's a fairy tale that not only nails the beauty of Pure Love through Gerda's hardships during her quest to find Kay, but in it's varied colorful portrayl of females--from the crafty witch who spells her, to the Finn woman who helps her find the way to the Snow Queen, to Gerda herself, a strong, sweet girl with only the purest of intentions.

The story of the 2 smoking students of Buddhism.

One says, I will ask master tomorrow if it is alright to smoke.
The other says he will, also.

Next morning one is smoking the other is not.

"I thought you were going to ask the master if it was alright to smoke.
Why are you smoking? I'm not."

"Well, what did you ask him?"
I asked, Is it alright to smoke while I meditate?
Master said, Absolutely not.

''Well, there's the difference. I asked the master,
May I meditate while I smoke."
He said, Absolutely.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

HAHA that is a good story Miss Hepburn. I must say that I find smoking very meditative. When I smoke alone I often use this time to be more present

I like many stories. I like the Aesop's fables. One of my favourite one is The Wind and The Sun. It's classical but nice

THE WIND and the Sun were disputing which was the stronger. Suddenly they saw a traveller coming down the road, and the Sun said: “I see a way to decide our dispute. Whichever of us can cause that traveller to take off his cloak shall be regarded as the stronger You begin.” So the Sun retired behind a cloud, and the Wind began to blow as hard as it could upon the traveller. But the harder he blew the more closely did the traveller wrap his cloak round him, till at last the Wind had to give up in despair. Then the Sun came out and shone in all his glory upon the traveller, who soon found it too hot to walk with his cloak on.
“KINDNESS EFFECTS MORE THAN SEVERITY.”

One of my favourite longer stories is Matilda I love how she gets through all obstacles and raise above dysfunctional family and she gets a really great mom at the end I just love happy endings

Oh and The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen.
