Did she mean that Maitreya and Jesus are literally the same person?
Or that Maitreya possesses the Christ-Consciousness?

From what I remember she said Maitreya and Christ are one. I am trying to find out where I read this as it was a while ago.

Maitreya or Metteya
From what I read on sacred book
Already in Tusita Heaven when Buddha Gotama still alive.
Waiting for the right moment to be born as human and become Buddha, when human lifespan is 80.000 years.
That based on Theravada Buddhism

I really wonder if there is any humanbeing who is not capable of figuring out life within 80.000 years.

How long we live doesn't matter.
and to attain Nibbana or Enlightment in Buddhism is incredibly hard.
Need so many lives. Numerous times become human, deva or another realm cultivate Paramita.
One need strong determination in a very long journey.

The enlightened lose their illusion of individuality.

Jesus Christ was a spiritual being having a human experience - like all of us. The moment that Jesus Christ reached enlightenment, was the moment that Jesus Christ the person ceased to exist. The divine spark that was remaining was no different than the divine spark in Maitreya.

There are two ways for the ego, the person - to cease to exist. One must die, which is the most popular way; or one must reach enlightenment without the benefit of dying.

Cultivating Paramita is mainly about becoming a good person.
What is so difficult about good behaviour?

Not easy to overcome bad habits.
At least for me. And for anyone who have a lot of defilement too.

10 Paramita:
Generosity (dana)
Morality (sila)-virtue, integrity
Renunciation (nekkhamma)
Wisdom (pañña)
Energy/Strength (viriya)- effort
Patience (khanti)
Truthfulness (sacca)
Determination (adhitthana)
Loving-kindness (metta)
Equanimity (upekkha)

Even trying to do 5 precepts not easy for me, no need to say about overcome anger and Cultivate Loving-kindness.

But well different person, have different difficulty.
