Late Vedic & early Buddhist cosmologies

How to interpret the "All" (Sanskrit: sarva) in late Vedic scriptures, and the "all" (Pali: sabba) in the suttas?

This is a quick note I made on the "All" in the Upaniṣads and the Mokṣadharma; that might have influenced the Buddha and early Buddhism.

Is there any possibility to find similarities between Brahmanic & Buddhist cosmologies?

What is your position on the matter?

Hi Cathutch,

I think Buddhist cosmology indeed was influenced by the Vedic cosmology.
In my opinion this happened because both regions of religion lie close to one another.

For example Egyptian or Maya cosmology is very different from the two others mentioned above.
I think this is so because Egypt and America lie further away from India.

Nowadays with our advanced communication technology, distance is trivial concerning 'transfer of knowledge'. But in ancient times distance was a very important factor.

Just my take on this matter.

Greetings Serrao,

Thanks for your input.

Indeed Vedism was at the heart of Buddhism, and they influenced greatly each other. And The khsatriya (the warrior caste) had their say with Buddha.
Later Upaniṣads show the heavy influence of Buddhism upon Hinduism.

Jainism, Saṃkhya and Buddhism did split from the heavy speculations and ritualistic nature of Vedism. Buddhism being the less speculative and the most profound and apodictic of them all.
