Christianity is stuck in an old teaching, truth can never be stuck in time, from over 2000 years ago, measuring or life today by an old yard stick just doesn't work, God is forever changing and not some stagnate teaching from the dead past.

It's a yardstick to those who believe in it. If someone isn't a Christian, why would they use it as a yardstick?
Do you measure yourself against another religion's beliefs?
The main reason people dislike it IMHO is because in some Christian faiths they encourage proselytizing. People usually like someone that's genuinely a good person, not someone trying to make you into a convert.

Christianity in the context of how consciousness evolved is really about redemption.
As you can see below (and this is just from wikipedia) most religions, even spiritualism and non-religion religions are kind of about the same thing so they all have similar thought patterns related to the evolution of thought in common. Food for thought or not...............James
The concept of salvation as the phenomenon of being saved by divine agency belongs mostly to Christianity, Judaism and Islam, the major Abrahamic religions. Analogous concepts within Indian religions, such as nirvana and moksha, are not exact equivalents to the concept of salvation in that they do not depend upon divine agency.[3]
The theological study of salvation is called soteriology. It concerns itself with the comparative study of how different religious traditions conceive salvation and how they believe it is effected or achieved. In Indian religions, for example, the concept of salvation (which is called moksha) involves being free from an endless process of transmigration of the soul, a belief that is absent from Abrahamic soteriology.
In both Eastern and Western religions salvation is also the phenomenon of being saved from death. In religion, death does not simply refer to the end of biological life but signifies the suffering and degradation within life resulting from the consequences of sin. In Christianity one who has attained salvation is said to experience and inherit eternal life in God or what in Buddhism is called nirvana (which means "deathlessness").

Through out the ages Christians have been tormented, hated, mocked, punished, imprisoned, mutilated, etc....This still goes on today, much more than you think.
All one can do is be faithful, minister the Word, and do good works through the will of the Holy Spirit, love even when all around you hate, Love God above all others, and wait Patiently on Him. All the Glory to God.
God bless you and keep you, comfort and protect you, strengthen you, and guide you all the days of your life...Peace

**sigh** through out the ages people of all sorts of religions, cultures and ethnicity have been "tormented, hated, mocked, punished, imprisoned, mutilated, etc." and often by Christians. and it still goes on today much more than you think. (see witch hunts in Africa.)
the elite victim routine gets old after a couple thousand years, ya know, especially coming from folks who are members of the wealthiest, most powerful politically influential majority religion in the western hemisphere.

Unfortunately all that is true. The amount religious discrimination in the world is shocking. It makes no sense whatsoever.
I think the rule 'do unto others' applies here. If you don't want people to discriminate against your religion, don't discriminate against theirs. I hear a lot of negative talk from some Christians directed towards beliefs different than theirs, and then they complain when someone does the same to them.

The turning away from God routine gets old after a few thousand years...
You show me a Christian in your view who kills, tortures, hates, mutilates, etc.. and I will say he is not a follower of Christ...
Peace to you

Its the hate that gets me...People claim to be so spiritual, yet have so much hate, hostility, rage, and anger...
A true follower of Christ, a Christian, will have a new heart, be filled with the Holy Spirit and begin changing. No longer hating, but loving, no longer condemning, but saving, no longer hurting others, but healing. I am sure your getting the point...
How easy it is to love those that love you, but a gift from God to be able to love those who hate you...
Peace to you..

But THIS week we have a special offer going. Half price on indulgences and you can even keep that crystal skull and the other New Age stuff as long as it's not in the same room with your Bible.
On a more serious note (and this is more of a response to Lightworker) - Christianity is a pretty diverse bunch, and most Christians in the world (Catholics and Orthodox) do NOT regard the Bible as the the sole repository of truth.
Back in the days of early Christianity, it was an even MORE diverse group, with versions of Jesus' teaching being circulated that most Christians today wouldn't recognize. Read Bart Ehrman's "Lost Christianities" for examples.
And for hundreds of years after Jesus, there wasn't any one agreed-upon list of what the Bible should consist of. Nor is there today, for that matter.

Being a christian is not necessarily the same as being a follower of Christ.
Would you regard frothing at the mouth Bible Belt christians as followers of Christ or how about certain Irish Catholic priests or pro-life/pro-abortion zealots ?
