Sage tea
Sage tea ~
The herb has been used as a fever treatment, cough reliever, and wound healer. Herbalists use it to treat sore throat and mouth problems.
Just wondering if anyone has used this for the above reasons, did you like the taste or not ? Do you think it helped especially with the cough and sore throat ?

Yes, we used it for our son when he was younger with a serious throat problem but I must stress it was Red Sage, not the common or garden "Sage and onion" type - not sure now but it may be a Chinese remedy. Taste ? - well, it's a matter of taste, isn't it and used as a gargle.

thank you norseman for the clarification on the kind of sage used. I never heard of Red Sage, I would have used the garden sage & onion version , I can just imagine the taste !
one has to wonder sometimes on these remedies. My sister read about using cider vinegar to help with sore throats and coughs ~ I think one was supposed to drink a few ounces of the stuff, which I did and !! just about gagged, it was awful .
Another version I heard of was mixing honey and whiskey...this I think would at least taste better !

Yes..... in fact, I just picked up some Sage for my tea...... today!
Chinese Star Anise (crush, boil, and let stand for 30 minutes) this will aid the throat even more!
Crush 3 cloves of garlic in water and let stand overnight, drink first thing in the morning , reduce to one clove if too strong. This will quickly kill off any infection.

sage can build up in the liver over periods of prolonged use and cause liver cancer and failure.
