Interesting.
Personally, I feel pain is essential to growth.
( that in which causes us pain )
The reduction in pain / our responses
( in all it's forms & derivatives ) is directly
correlated to our expansion / ascension.
This is where terms such as immunity /
immortality can then surface.
Mind you, it is not the direct avoidance / use of
our faculties to detour/distort/manipulate that in
which causes pain, but the complete immersion
into said experience that allows for one to
successfully conquer & ascend it.
Some masters have said it is not the experience
of pain / suffering that is the problem it is how
one experiences it that matters.
Of course, over time, one can then experience
authentic bliss.
Quote:
That way I will always get what I want.

I feel this a very naive way of viewing the
world / it will inevitably lead to grave
disappointments on a personal & grand
scale.
" I want to be happy " one says.
Understand the flipside of happiness will always be
waiting for you. Understand, every state has its place.
If one is always in search for sustained happiness they
will find themselves unimaginably disappointed & disillusioned.
It's a delusion. Everything up must come
down. It's a transiet state. If you don't know how to
successfully navigate through hell you'll never get to heaven.
Beyond this, I even ask what makes someone "happy".
If your happiness is rooted in the externalized world,
you are in for a world of hurt, no pun intended.
I, also, might add the yin/yang mechanism.
That experiences in life that one may think
/ are sought out for because they "think"
(usually rooted in veils of truth) will bring
them unparalleled bliss actually can
bring unbearable misery. Conversely,
experiences that one may initially find
unbearable can lead to unimaginable
bliss. Same with concepts like the
"Dark Nights Of The Soul".
Out of suffering have emerged the
strongest souls; the most massive
characters are seared with scars. - Khalil Gibran
