Buddhist retreat centers where you can stay long term

Plum Village in France is a Mahayana Buddhist retreat center setup by Thich Nhat Hanh, there are over 100 monks there and the option is there for aspirants and long term lay people to move onto the monastery and practice with the sangha over a long term period.

Are there other retreat centers like this in Europe and elsewhere?

Do you know any big ones that they let people stay at though? There are plenty of retreat centers, but I don't know of any big ones like Plum Village.

I don't know where you live Horse to give you some Telephone Numbers so what I suggest is to check for a Buddhist Information Centre in your area or if you live close to a Sangha call in and ask for advice

How long? 1 month? 3 months? or 1 year or more?

Dharma Drum Mountain also has long term(1 month) meditation retreat, but as far as I know, it's not open for public. Only for people who had already joined Dharma Drum Mountain short term(3 days to 1 week) meditation retreat. But for sure, it's better to contact Dharma Drum Mountain. Dharma Drum Mountain is Chan/Zen tradition based at Taiwan and have some branch at US and other countries.
Beside Dharma Drum Mountain and Plum Village, there's many other Chan/Zen/Seon school.
If you in US, I have a friend from Chan tradition in US.

Theravada also has long term meditation retreat, but I only know Theravada long term meditation retreat from Mahasi Sayadaw(days, months, to years).
If you in Australia, you might want to check Bodhinyana Forest leaded by Ajahn Brahm. Maybe Bodhinyana Forest has long term meditation retreat.

If you need help, please let me know what tradition that you interest in. I can ask my friend from Theravada/Mahayana/Tibetan tradition for more information if you interested.
