Hi Folks..

xLuminescencex; Hi and welcome

That's a cool name you have - but a little much to type - I may have to call you Lumi, if you don't mind, for conveneance. lol..

Baptism in a sink, by your Self..??...lol.... yer, I guess that could work

See in truth - you are SUPPOSED to be baptised in the HOLY SPIRIT as it is known by that religion - the water bath is just symbolic - but as long as you are open to that Divine Presence - inviting it and welcoming it, embracing it fully - then rest assured my Father knows your intent and will respond accordingly...

My Self - I too get "baptised in a sink" every day lol - as I wash and clean my teeth first thing, I repeat the Lords Prayer in my Mind, (the only prayer we ever need if understood) - setting my self up for the day ahead - renewing and strengthening, recommitting my Self to my purpose - that is truly "baptism" and you don't need a priest vicar or religious middleman to attain it at all...

Aren't rituals like baptism more of a way of passing on spiritual knowledge similar to oral history back when the written word was it short supply?

A physical baptism seems antiquated to me.

God commands that those who have repented of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ should be baptized to show that they are now followers of Christ. Unless you have done this you should not be baptized at all.

If you have you should be baptized, but no one in the Bible baptized ever baptized himself. The baptism should be done by someone else who is a follower of Christ. In most churches it is the pastor who baptizes but this isn't required by the Bible.

as one had said here, basically one has to be baptized by someone who's authorize to perform a baptism. no where in the bible did Jehovah God or Jesus allow anyone to baptize themselves. beside that, baptism is a promise to Jehovah God ,(Exo 6:3). that you will do his WILL. if we believe just beliving in Jesus is Going to save us, it won't. Jesus told us what will ,(Matt. 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven).

many believe getting baptize, will ensure them a trip to Heaven, not true. beside we have to be taught Jehovah God's words just as Jesus said he taught his Father's words ,(John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak), and (John 15:15).

we need to be taught God's words, before we're baptized, (Act 2:41 -Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls).

also see (Acts 8:35-38 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized"? Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him).

after that we must them do as Jesus commanded, which was to deny ourselves and follow him and his examples ,(1Pet. 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps). which was to go teach and baptize, making disciples ,(Matt. 28:19,20). peace
