All I know about Feng Shui is that it is a spiritual based way of architecture.

I've toyed with it for many years. Alot of it's common sense but some is a little more out there. I use a hi tech version nowadays, much easier...but should still be supplemented with traditional feng shui. I'm no expert on it though. I'd have to get the book out to adjust anything.

In the garden you can put a water feature in water section etc. Feng shui is generally added after house construction to correct poor design. Probably better to design according to it's principles in the first place tho I agree. Geomancy is another approach that places the house in the right place in the landscape.

This explains it well:
"The ancient Chinese art and practice of feng shui aims to create a space that allows chi or qi – the energy of the universe – to flow naturally. One way to achieve this is by filling your home with a healthy balance of the five feng shui elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water."
Energy moves in a balanced way creating balance as it takes the form of the 5 elements. Each compliments the other so creating a space of these elements or energy gives a feeling of balance and peace.
That is how I understand it.
Studying the five elements is a great way to understand better what feng shui is.
