I hear what you are saying but there are various levels of samadhi. Different traditions describe different stages of samadhi but I prefer to keep it simple.

Savikalpa samadhi - a temporary state wherein the individual transcends all human consciousness for a short period of time but then returns to ordinary consciousness - perhaps this is similar to the state of satori.

Nirvikalpa samadhi - often considered the highest state attainable in meditation, but at some stage the individual has to return to ordinary awareness or otherwise vacate the body.

Sahaja samadhi - attained by very few, where the individual is able to remain in samadhi while functioning in the world.

If the individual meditates on form and enters samadhi then that samadhi will end, because form is limited and any samadhi produced by meditation on form is also limited.

If the individual meditates on formlessness and enters samadhi then that samadhi need not end because formlessness is not limited.

Many people claim to be having a spiritual awakening but this usually falls short of any samadhi states, so they still have to deal with ego and personality issues.

Let's face it, very few of us become so proficient at meditation that the various states of samadhi are of practical relevance.

Peace.

Yes that was my point. Many probably experience a Satori (what you described as Savikalpa samadhi) and then "come back" so to speak.

While inalavan was apparently thinking of Sahaja samadhi.

Despite your (attitude of) 'humility' -- IMO, no sub-'One' can know everything, so everyone who is at all honest should be 'humble' in that regard! -- I would like you to know that I haven't come across wise-er, label-limitation-recognizing statements than yours, IamThat.

Am delighted to be in a position to hobnob with one such as you!

what do you do with divine sorrow and hopelessness
you excuse yourself the more you are be able.
you excuse people around you for the honest
reasons to show up, the more you are be able.
you excuse the boxes that give you entertainment
because you should give a break is a great admit.
you excuse the blend of machines that drive all,
to get it all off your chest once and for all.

try again.
