Zikr / Dhikr

One of my favorite things to do

Zikr is a prayer usually done by counting and repeating 3 phrases 33 times each. Either beads, hands (joints of fingers), or an electronic device can be used. I usually use beads.

Many different phrases can be used, the most common are.
Astugfur Allah - May God forgive me
Subhan Allah - Glory to God
Alhamdulilah - All praise to God

A Muslim never calls upon his Lord with these words concerning any matter, but his prayer is answered

The messenger, peace be upon him, said:

Whoever say after each prayer:

Sobhana Allaah (Glory be to God) 33 times
Alhamdu li Allaah (praise be to God) 33 times
Allaahu Akbar (God is Greater) 33 times

Then conclude with:
"La ilaha illa Allaahu (no God but Allaah)
wahdahu la shareeka lahu (Alone, no partner to Him)
lahu al-mulku, wa lahu al-hamdu (for Him is the kingdom, and for Him is the praise)
wa huwa ala kulli shayIn qadeer" (and He is able to do all things)

his sins will be forgiven even if it was as much as the sea foam.

Remembering God will give you energy to do what you cannot do usually.

Once, Fatima the daughter of prophet Muhammad and her husband, peace be upon them, told the prophet that they need a servant.

The prophet said:
"Shall I inform you with a better thing than (having) a servant?"

They said: yes O God's messenger.

The prophet said:
"when you go to your bed, then say:

Sobhana Allaah (Glory be to God) 33 times
Alhamdu li Allaah (praise be to God) 33 times
Allaahu Akbar (God is Greater) 34 times

And then conclude with:

"La ilaha illa Allaahu (no God but Allaah)
wahdahu la shareeka lahu (Alone, no partner to Him)
lahu al-mulku, wa lahu al-hamdu (for Him is the dominion, and for Him is the praise)
wa huwa ala kulli shayIn qadeer" (and He is able to do all things)

They did that and could manage to stay most of the night praying to God, and most of the day searching for the needy people to fulfill their needs, despite hunger and sleeping force.

Allaahumma keep your connection upon prophet Muhammad, and the family of Muhammad.
