When Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner....it was a poem that circulated around New England for a couple of years.....became very popular and then was put to the melody of "To Anacreon in Heaven"....a English drinking song popular in London pubs.

No, they are killing themselves because nothing they say is getting through to the world and we've passed the point of no return, meaning that they had no positive effect of the future survival prospect of humanity (from their perspective). All their education, PHDs, work and effort couldn't save world which is all they wanted. That would make me suicidal.

The Anthropogenic era is defined as starting when humans had a greater effect on climate than the forces of nature and is generally thought to have begun 150 to 200 years ago, when the industrial revolution began producing CO2 and CH4 at rates sufficient to alter their compositions in the atmosphere.
In the last week new evidence has been uncovered that nuclear residue has been found in plants on the opposite side of the planet to where tests were performed in the 1960's proving that radiation artificially put into the atmosphere became global and was seen as a spike above and beyond background natural processes.
Trees are a good way to calculate a timeline of events because they show chemicals and radioactive traces in specific rings in their trunk, showing the exact year (and sometimes the exact season) when the event happened.

That makes sense but it is rather sad. I wouldn't like to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. |
