' Seems like freedom from thinking may be better.'
No so, according to the Buddha
We are what we think, having become what we thought.
Like the wheel that follows the cart-pulling ox,
sorrow follows an evil thought.
We are what we think, having become what we thought.
Like the shadow that never leaves one,
happiness follows a pure thought.
'Who is it that notices these thoughts as wholesome or unwholesome and responds for the benefit of all beings.'

That would not be Buddha Nature then would it?
As Dzogchen Master Norbu explains, silence is not the goal.

then look at any of these.

top one is filthy. while the others are clean. why? because the filthy one has no current. the clean ones have current.
without the feminine aspect of current running through your nervous system it takes effort to be clean. with the power of the feminine one is clean without effort. its REALLY that simple. but here on planet earth 99% do not get it.

the key word i used was nervous system. the nervous system is the instrument used by the feminine divine to express herself as joy in the body. which happens irrespective of everything. therefore cleans the system on autopilot. keeps it clean. like a filtering device with a bonus of ecstatic joyful feeling in the body and mind.
nothing wrong with what you said about current. its just a different topic than what i brought up. which of course is fine. perhaps you knowingly brought up another topic.

That state can be held if one is talking, conversing, listening to or aware of talking or thought, within and without, is in a crowd of people all talking, while walking through a noisy city, so what do you mean by silence? Maybe better to say, "It would be liberation wouldn't it?"

Personally identifying with the thoughts as reality, instead of being aware of what they are which is unnecessary "coloring" on an already perfectly colored page. We don't think we are our thoughts, as we know we have them, but we assume we are the creators of them, that they are from "us" and we instantly accept the "truth" of them, whatever they are presenting to us as an interpretation.
