No luck even I try to be a better person

Hello everyone :)

Last year I step into spiritual path, wonderful experiences :)
I finished 2 level Reiki, I'm very much into crystals, lately trying OOBE (with no luck yet).
In few months I'll try to do Akashic records course.
I decide to let go of that's what doesn't serve me any-more (I quit weed).
I have problems with my relationship, I don't know how this will end up...
Anyway I'm trying to become better person.
Since all this, I feel Spirituality decrease in my life.
I don't feel reiki as much, I stopped to having dreams (not remembering them at all).
Its all like empty now.
One of friends had stroke I was trying to help by distance healing but this didn't help. He died.
I feel bad :( I thought if I will try to become better person and I'll try more meditation and more reiki and try OOBE my spiritual journey should increase...
I don't know what to do ... Any suggestions ? Please help I feel empty and sad...

(Hi BarbaraT.
I moved your thread from "Spiritualism" to "Spirituality" as it will probably fit better here.)

That's often how it happens. We get a wonderful experience. It lifts us up. We know we will never be the same again, and life shines....

Oh but that's only the 'waking up' bit, and probably only one facet of it. It's like waking up in the morning then for a few moments the morning sparkles, the sun shines. And then we have the whole day to get on with. And the sun goes in, but we have to work through the day.

These experiences are there to inspire us. The 'day' is up to us. What do we make of it? What are we going to create? How did those experiences inspire us to live the rest of our lives?

We don't find ourselves dressed in white robes. The Universe doesn't bow down to us. Flowers don't spring to bloom at our feet when we walk.
It rains sometimes. It's cold sometimes. That's the nature of things.
Sometimes we give love and ask for healing for a loved one or a stranger. They pass away nevertheless. They continue the course of their illness, and only Morphine can really help them. But we prayed!! Surely they should be miraculously healed??

Yes we did, and the Soul of that person probably received our loving care. That's the best we have to give.
We can't stop their bodies dying, and we can't always prevent their illnesses. All we can give is support and kindness.

And what do we do when it's flat, cold, nothing happening, no light shining wherever we walk? Whatever we do seems 'unspiritual' -just the daily grind? Well we carry on living by our principles, that's what. Those valuable principles that hopefully our 'awakening' showed us.

Accepting how you feel at any given time can be the start of change ,the empty ,lost feeling is all a part of spirituality, see if you can identify any other feelings as well and know that all feelings are allowed, I defienetly dont like being stuck in the lower ones though but being there just long enough to understand what they might mean for you personally is not a bad thing , see clearly the duality of your situations then inject yourself with Gods ever waiting power of love and creativity with the faith that he is good and so are you ,and a seed of happiness and goodness when nurtured grows daily when watered with your positive attentions and commitment................

When you feel bad feel more bad. Go directly into it, let is wash over you like the ocean, and drown in that ocean.
Same with all your other pains and difficulties, do not resist ... just dive straight in like a dolphin.

Perhaps because you've set a lot of store in courses and tuition. The time/money hasn't been lost and in time to come you'll feel its value. It often happens that when people take up some "labelled" spiritual path or technique they expect results far too soon. Often they're disappointed. Sometimes they strike lucky in the sense that something appears to go their way. They then have to decide whether it was coincidence or a genuine result of their work.

Just take a step back, look at what you've done, find good in it and, if I may say so, be patient. If your intent is as you say - trying to be a better person, you are already from this awakening. Becoming a better person means starting to find the real you within, the you that's uncluttered by materialist clap-trap and false beliefs; estimating how much of you is a result of your upbringing and social shaping; and finding out what your guiding principle is, etc.

It's going to take time. But don't give up. Don't be hard on yourself.

It isn't your fault that your friend died. Remember, there are many forces at play here. Perhaps, simply, it was his time...to return to...whatever happens. No need to feel bad at all. You did your best.

What to do? My suggestion:
Set up some small simple observances that you can easily keep; schedule them for six days a week - on the 7th take a rest. Vow to keep them. - A few ideas: set 20 minutes aside. Make 15 mins of that a mini-meditation - ruminate on the day, try to still your mind (by concentrating on deep breathing at first), then read a psalm (or a passage from a book that inspires you). You don't have to be Christian to read (or use) the psalms - they have far wider application.

Set up some affirmations, particularly that you'll recall more of your dreams. Keep a little notebook by your bed so when you wake up you can straight away note even a word that related to your dream, maybe a few words to describe a scene. (There's a lot on the dream forum here).

But above all, take it easier. Don't worry if results aren't immediate. Finding yourself is a lifelong pursuit. Turn to gurus by all means but ultimately your path is your own.

Best wishes
