That music is a little dark/dramatic for me. But then I've never really liked the "male chant" type sound all that much. Like the chanting in the movie "Little Buddha." The low frequencies. I will even take songs I like and speed them up, raising the pitch, to enjoy them more. I love music...all genres if it seems uplifting or appealing to me. It's amazing the sounds and songs humans make, astral even. I think music (and the process of creating) is much more than we think it is. All the mathematical harmonies and layers, the vibrational frequencies,... the sound of the source... om.... is supposed to be sublime if one hears it. It's interesting that the source even has a sound associated with it.

I'm not sure "meditating" goes well with listening to music though. For me, it's like adding a layer/distraction or a "hook" for the self to be involved. But then I've never tried adding music to mindfulness/meditation practice. Seems like it would be distraction/noise to me.

My "Buddhist meditation" involves a dropping of the memory and conditioned self and of course the "voice" of that self which all requires high alert awareness.. for me that typically means I am aware of "noise"..... music. tv. internal "talking" and either turn the sound off, as in tv or music, or remove the attention from it, as in the internal verbal stream.

Buddhist Meditation for me often takes the form of long walks in a very alert state, with inner silence and freedom and non-attachment, with awe and wonder at the mysterious (non-verbal, non-conceptual) nature of reality.

This is a very helpful and straightforward Buddhist Meditation series of short videos on YouTube, without any accompaniment of dramatic music or chanting.

Here's the introduction:

Meditation is done through quietness and music is sound disturbance. Your can't focus , concentrate your mind and how a person can do meditation? The introduction of music may seem good or romanic but impractical.

Meditation with or without music should be the same but it does depend on the individual preference.

That mean you're on either side of listening and meditation. That's great. But it's possible to do it.

If you are asleep you wouldn't know what you are doing.
