Papa!

Dear Dad, you gave me life, you fed me and clothed me. You picked me up when I fell, you gave me pocket money, you brought us ice creams. You taught us important things like how to throw and catch, the fun of sandcastles - always with a moat, castles, hill walking, snowmen, poo-sticks. The list goes on.

You were my teacher, I broke your heart and soul when I emerged as female. Such intricacies of the choices made in the higher are not understood in the lower mostly but the choices we made were perfect. Your parenting of me was perfect, confused and troubled by my gender - but the lessons I learnt in the physical but also in the higher - well I couldn't have had a better teacher.

You demonstrated true virtues - kindness, quiet dignity, sensitivity. You loathed injustice, you disliked slacking, you showed great family values, and you maintained your integrity despite being unhappy - and you were unhappy.

I sense you now, close, sometimes and other times far away. I sense the loving healing that is taking place as you see that you were forgiven for the way you could not love me as I was - as the girl not the boy - you simply didn't recognise me dad and therein lies your tragedy.

Perfect dad. It was all perfect. And the now is perfect and so is the tomorrow.

Heal freely dad. Heal freely and fully and joyfully. Stay with me sometimes, reprove me if I am out of order, praise me for my successes, forgive me for the wrongs I did to you.

You are being made anew dad, may your loved ones draw you to them and make sure that as you stay with me sometimes, you only stay for a little while before you return to the light.

Thank you dad. You helped shape me. Your inspiration will live on.
