Sort of, though I would be more inclined to choose Socrates as my standard.

But my standard is more precisely an abstract conception of the good life. There is not any actual individual who sets that standard. I suppose you could say that *I* am the standard for my life, but it is my highest potentials that set that standard.

I suppose what I’m getting at is how do you know you’re in fact living a spiritual life?

I have a concern for improving my vantagepoint on the deep issues of life, which is my understanding of the barest essence of the spiritual life. That's how I know.

All of life is spirit in essence....when we let go of comparisons we can become who we know ourselves to be...in the essence of spirit.

So I live fully in who I am.......and always open to enriching, expanding and embracing as much of life as I can...in me and through me..

Eudaimonist - Socrates and standards, especially those of ethics is quite honorable. I have great admiration for one who follows their own standards for living, especially when they're set at one's highest potentials. Looking outside of self for standards to follow can cause a lot of grief to say the least. I especially like what you said in your last paragraph about improving vantage point. Thank you for your comments. Quite inspirational.

sw - I agree with you. It seems like when we compare ourselves to anyone we abandon who we truly our, our true essence. I believe we can't find our way to or back to our true essence when we admire others more than we do ourselves. That's a very healthy statement you made.

Seems like sometimes in life we start out when young trying to live up to parental expectations. Later on, perhaps it's a particular religious standard we try to follow. I must admit when you eliminate those two influences you're still left with influences, but our spiritual essence lies outside of them. It lies within us. Good points, sw!

I think everyone is spiritual
in my opinion what makes one person spiritual and the other one not
is one of them admit it .. and that doesn't make him anymore spiritual by the way

For me living a spiritual life is knowing that this PHYSICAL life is just part of a progress in which we must go thought to evolve and in this materialistic world like it or not can make certain individuals do horrible cold things to others just because of their ego.

To live a spiritual life, you have to be Honest with your acts and yourself, be friendly, being able to think carefully before you say anything that could hurt someone´s feelings.

Knowing that everything happens for a reason even when sometimes what has happened is a horror show and that our biggest obstacle is our massive EGO.

I am spiritual because I was naturally born that way, just like every other human soul that incarnates. The more important question here is maybe, "How the heck can we ever NOT be spiritual because sometimes I feel I need a break from all this self-realization stuff!"
