It depends what you mean by creative thinking.

Some would say that meditation aims to still the mind and reduce the flow of thoughts, whether creative or not.

But if you mean creative thinking as in finding solutions to problems, then meditation reduces the internal mental chatter and makes us more intuitional, so when we are faced with a decision then we may have a clear knowing of what course we should take.

Or if you mean creative thinking in the artistic sense, then meditation increases our ability to concentrate so we can enter that creative zone where ideas or abilities flow more easily. Thus words come naturally to the writer, or images are fluidly expressed on canvas for the painter. This is perhaps a more Zen-like state where mind and emotions do not interfere with artistic expression.

So maybe there is no simple answer to your question.

Peace.

I have definitely become more creative since beginning my meditation practice.
Creative ideas on just about everything I do come to me. If you want to enhance
your creativity concentrate every now and then on Tarot Key #3, The Empress.
That card is a symbolic representation of creative imagination and over time will
help you develop such. Certain symbols will entice your subconscious to bring forth
characteristics that are associated with those particular symbols.

Agree with Starman, using meditation at least in spirit to draw creativity into oneself. It's more about visualisation which can take various forms. One is: if you're aiming to create some object - painting, music, choreography, writing, break it down into stages and visualise the various stages in progress. The initial stage needs care, see yourself writing or painting but nothing in particular, just doing it, then the next stage would be putting it before your audience and the various things that involved.

However, you can also visualise some creative equivalent of prana around you that your draw into your body. If you have a creative block or some other problem (doesn't have to be to do with your creativity), as you exhale blow it out as a grey smoke or something then on inhaling, draw in the creative forces. Otherwise pore-breath the creative force into your being.

Point is, don't expect instant results, just treat it as you would any visualising / meditating. Let your being absorb the thing and proceed according to your inspiration.

It's interesting you speaking of "creative thinking." I'm no Crowleyite but a few of his utterances stuck. One was the balance between one's genius and their secretarial skills. Like you could be a great artist in thought - but if you can't draw/paint you're stuck. So creative thinking is about your genius side. If you want to manifest your creations you have to develop the secretary side. And, of course, it works vice versa too.
