"A Christmas Carol" by Robert Zemeckis

This is the Disney remake of Charles ****ens famous story.

It is completely done in computer graphics. Is it any good? YES! Very much so. I thought it was a compelling and masterly retelling of one of my favourite stories.

The animation is exquisite, but the real strength lies in the depth of character and emotion that the film expresses. These computer animation figures have real life to them. The story is faithfully told, with a couple of insignificant additions.

I thought it was beautiful and moving. Some cynical film critics have stated this film lacks substance or soul; not so. It probably goes deeper then they were willing to give it credit for.

Disney? Deep? Surely not.

But yes this animation manages to be beautiful looking and emotionally profound at the same time. I was visibly moved on several occassions and intellectually engaged all the way through.

Scrooge was artistically articulated and all the other characters rang true. Especially the Cratchets who stole the show with their simple honesty and humilty. Their sorrow at Tiny Tims death was heart-rending.

The only false note the film struck was the obsolete horse and cart chase which only detracted from the films seriousness for a few minutes. But even that didn't jar too much.

It is a great success in my opinion.

Hello

To me there is only ONE the original with Alistar Simms. I have that one every year and every year I have a good old cry.

I will too get this one for the kids...its a pure message and that so matters in todays times.

I love the Alistair Simm version too. But this Disney version is so totally different to that version they don't clash.

Its a different ballgame. There is room for both in my heart!

Only in the sequences when Scrooge is being visited by the spirits. That is in the original book too.

IOW he would die if the future remains unchanged by Scrooges actions.

PS Your post count indicates you have been very busy! lol.
