I love insects as much as animals. I even talk to insects and tell them how wonderful they are but no response though. I would never kill an insect not even a tick. To me all insects are worthy of life and should be respected just like animals. Ofcourse if there is a tick and it is removed then it might die but if it survives then in my philosophy it should be put back on the grass. I think the reason people can kill insects is because of their size. Weird how we humans think and prioritize things. God loves all creatures. Some NDE experiencers has reported seeing butterflies including Eben Alexander. Anyway i definitely believe insects exist on the other side. There are even animal heavens where animals go to and i believe insects go to animal heavens. I also believe there are places where both humans and insects are. Just like dogs and cats i wonder whether insects can be spirit guides? Hmm. After all we have power animals. Does anyone have a power animal that is an insect? Also does anyone know whether power animals who take the form of a certain animal was once that animal in the physical world?

I get very emotional when i see an insect. Watching an insect is like watching love in physical form. To me God is everything that is love. A full definition of God is for me love itself. Anything that is love is God. When i sometimes use the word 'i believe' what i mean is what i really think i know to be true. But sometimes i prefer saying i believe. Its just how i sometimes prefer to describe what i personally think i know. Socrates said that 'i know that i know nothing'. He realised his limitations.

Hi there.

Glad my post reached your heart. What's your opinion on insects? I save them all the time. Today i saved a snail that lied on the road. Life is filled with wonders. Most people ignore trees but i think about the trees around me. Trees communicate by chemical means through their roots. If there is a danger the trees warn eachother through this unique language of theirs. There's so many languages from different species. Wonder how long it took before different cultures found each other and realised each other's languages. Maybe science already has the answers to that but still it feels so strange how we could learn to communicate with each other like that...

I appreciate your compassion for the insect world but it is impossible to go through the day without killing various life forms. The best we can do is try to avoid causing deliberate harm.

Peace

I agree. The best we can do is try our best to avoid.

You're right that its impossible to not kill an insect by accident especially if you are in the countryside.

Buddhist monks use a broom to sweep away insects when they walk in the woods. But even they i'm not sure if they can avoid it fully.

I do not like killing insects.................
but if they are already dead, I just might eat them.

I remember one water bug that looks like a cockroach. I ate
a whole bunch of them. The next day, I swore I would never eat them again.

Those bugs acted like a super aphrodisiac .

What you most probably encountered was the cochineal beetle - the scientific name for which is Lytta Vesicatoria.

This beetle is often used in food coloring additives to give cakes and pastries a reddish colour.

In other uses, the beetle is known as "Spanish Fly" a very powerful aphrodisiac which works upon the erectile muscles of the penis, much like an insect Viagra.

Why I happen to know such useless trivia is beyond me...but it does come in handy sometimes when replying to posts like this one. LOL

The scientific name of the water bug is Lethocerus Indicus.

There are many different species of "water bug" and the one you have mentioned isn't known for having aphrodisiac properties.

The only bug I am aware of that does, is the one I previously mentioned - however, just because I am not aware of it, doesn't mean other species don't exist.

I think I will forgo entymology and just stick with etymology.

You may have come across (excuse the pun) an insect which, for some reason or another, just had that effect on you, who knows?

Maybe you didn't eat a batch of Spanish Fly...but for the love of all things holy, what would a person be doing eating a bunch of dead insects which look like cockroaches anyway?

Nope...I think this is one of those cases where I just don't wanna know...
