I agree with what iamthat said about personalities from other incarnations - I believe we have many egos from many lifetimes. The sum total of who we are as "egos" becomes the memory patterns that we hang on to (they can snowball from lifetime to lifetime strengthening or weakening). When I've seen spirits, they tend to project whatever the person receiving the reading needs to see or recognize to validate the message.

I also have a belief that we get sort of intoxicated by the astral realm in afterlife because from my experience those souls communicate that everything is so happy and easy. How quickly we forget how tough life is on the physical plane!

Mental illness is more of a brain issue. Once we leave the physical body, there is no more brain issue and the mind that is held in the soul body is more clear. Of course there are all kinds of ego patterns in there, but I think there is no more suffering (once the soul has acclimatized to the new realm).

I do believe there are "ghosts" - souls who are so addicted to life on earth, or for whatever reason, they hang around and maybe suffer until they let go their gross nature enough to ascend. People who fool around with ouija boards and stuff can attract these. Not a good idea.
