One more thing that you could try to make a habit Spiritual Novice, is Intermittent Fasting. I've read about it and have found it helpful from both a physiological standpoint as well as learning to discipline myself a bit more about how much I eat. The way I do it is to just give myself a cut off point, 7:00 in the evening and I don't eat anymore. Before that, I eat to feel fed and not hungry and the next morning, I have my breakfast at about 9:00.

I was reading an article in Scientific American that talks about the benefits. Maybe something in it will ring a bell for you.

Forget all calorie counting ..... it will not work long term. You will just relapse over and over again.

Increase METABOLIC rate ...... Yerba Mate , Walking , MOVEMENT!
