The Rose Bud
As I strolled down the pathway
Enjoying all to see
The beauty of God’s nature
So serene, so free
I stopped by the road side
To pick up a flower
Got pricked on my finger
It wounded my thoughts
I cried out in pain
My feelings insane
Forgot my journey
As I pondered in vain
The bud was so pretty
So delicate, so plain
In the midst of fierce thorns
It set me ablaze
What was it with nature?
To create such a flower
And place it in surroundings
That could mar it or scar
I watched it in silence
As it withstood the rain
Reached out to protect it
Got pricked once again
As weeks flew by
A month and a year
The bud still lingered
It never did sway
Through winter & summer
Heat & rain
In the melee it had blossomed
In nature it gained
The wisdom of the creator
The rose in its bloom
Were it not for the thorns
It would surely have been doomed
The lessons I learned
Was not just of the rose
As I continued my journey
In silence once more

Nicely put.
I was thinking about Rose and its thorns actually.
