The Mysterious of Mary Celeste story

Mary Celeste was an American merchant brigantine discovered adrift and deserted in the Atlantic Ocean off the Azores Islands on December 4, 1872. The Canadian brigantine Dei Gratia found her in a dishevelled but seaworthy condition under partial sail and with her lifeboat missing. The last entry in her log was dated ten days earlier. She had left New York City for Genoa on November 7 and was still amply provisioned when found. Her cargo of denatured alcohol was intact, and the captain's and crew's personal belongings were undisturbed. None of those who had been on board were ever heard from again.

But what is the point you are making?

Parallel events suggest that when a ship or an island enters "the other dimension", if it returns later, the human element may be absent, never to return. In the December 1900 incident of the Eilean Mor lighthouse off the Scottish coast, the three keepers were probably mindful of the "Marie Celeste" when extremely abnormal weather conditions suggested that the lighthouse had entered "the other dimension."

The lighthouse log book states that all three men engaged in prayer together, something they had never done before, according to the fourth man of the crew who was on shore leave at the time.

When the lighthouse was inspected after that Christmas, unusually severe storm damage was found, and the open log-book, but the three men had disappeared without a trace.

The official board of enquiry found that the three keepers had been "must have been swept away by a tsunami". This verdict was generally held to be unsatisfactory because of the terrible storm described in the log book and which had been so violent that they "cowered in fear inside the lighthouse structure and did not dare even open the door" when the local weather ashore had been calm with fog.

The lighthouse example suggests that there is a parallel world which can move and infringe our own world, and possibly the Marie Celeste entered such a patch of the parallel world for a period of time. Whoever enters this other world is condemned to remain in it.

There are many strange things that have happened and have been recorded:

Personally I find that SF spends too little time with them.

This is terrifying to think about it. I wonder how true it could be
