The End Game

"Yet only those souls that can awaken within the game and attain higher levels of consciousness will “graduate” to the next level — a new and transformed version of Earth. Emotions and Your Nervous System

Your emotions are invisible energies in motion that move through you with lightening-fast speed, flooding you with signals of either pleasure or pain. Like brush strokes on a blank canvas, your emotions color your world with contrast and meaning.

For many of us, emotions seem to have an interior life and will of their own. Previously, it was thought emotions were purely mental activities generated by the brain, over which we had little or no control. We now know that emotions have as much to do with the body as with the brain. Today, the idea of the body and brain being completely separate is fast being replaced by the holistic model of mind, body and spirit being intimately connected.
New research now shows that you can consciously choose to influence the development of your mind and emotions. It's been discovered that your heart functions as a complex information and networking center. In his book, The Biology of Belief, cellular biologist Bruce Lipton, PhD, shares current biomedical research about how your beliefs become your biology. With each heart beat, your heart communicates with your body, heart and brain through your nervous system, hormonal system, electromagnetic fields and other energetic pathways. These internal communication networks also affect the way you perceive your reality, which greatly influences the emotions you experience.

Your emotions are perfectly reflected in your nervous system. Scientific research shows that your emotions stimulate very specific activities in your nervous system. This means that your nervous system has the intelligence to distinguish between positive and negative emotions, as well as between different negative emotions.

One of the easiest ways scientists have found to observe the effects of emotions on the nervous system is through monitoring heart rhythms. It has been discovered that intense emotions are clearly shown in your heart's rhythms. For example, when you are experiencing intense emotions like fear, frustration, anxiety or anger, your heart rhythms are spiked and jagged and because there is a neural (nerve) connection between your heart and brain, your intense emotions greatly affect your ability to think clearly.

However, the opposite also is true for whenever you feel loved and appreciated as you generate internal feelings of emotional well-being and your heart rhythms become synchronized and harmonious and your ability to think clearly is enhanced...........

A question to ponder about the nature of reality.

Within the entire fields of science, philosophy, comparative religion / spirituality there are certain writings / teachings which correlate -

One area concerns the nature of existence / reality, which i have been pondering -

We have the 5 sense physical reality / World / Universe.
Everything within the 5 sense physical reality / World / universe consists of atoms.
Atoms consist of particles - we hear this a lot within the field of mainstream particle physics & deeper investigations of it all with the particle accelerators such as CERN.
Particles have their basis in energy waves - E=Mc2 & string theory.
What is the basis to energy waves? It is 'Nothing' - emptiness, pure awareness, consciousness.

It makes sense to me anyway.

The basis to physical reality is emptiness.
The opposite to the world view of materialism (that physicality is primary).

Well, the brain is a mostly an information processor communicating with the rest of the body through the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and the peripheral nerves (PNS). It also fires off hormones distributed through the circulatory system.

The notion of brain and body being separate is pretty obsolete. The body couldn’t function without information through the CNS ANS and PNS. That would be like saying the body and circulatory system are separate. Obviously not so.

Emotions are mainly the province of an (evolution-wise) old part of the brain, the limbic system, but like everything else it’s interconnected with just about every other part of the brain. This is the metaphorical “heart” claimed to be the seat of feelings, just as the frontal cortices are thought of as the seat of reason. Emotional reactions felt in the body are handled by the sympathetic and parasympathic nerves, the Vagus nerve important in holding back homeostasis.

“Scientific research shows that your emotions stimulate very specific activities in your nervous system.” Goes without saying else your body would fail. “This means that your nervous system has the intelligence to distinguish between positive and negative emotions, as well as between different negative emotions.” – depending on the individual and learning since the person was born – perhaps before, during gestation. It’s also been established that emotional and empathetic processes depend on the quality of nurturing during the earliest years. While all healthy brains perform the same functions their development isn’t equal. The other point is that the process starts instantly with stimulus, to withdraw/approach (fear / flight-flight-freeze) occurring before details of the stimulus reach conscious awareness.

People can control their (emotional) reactions simply because they reach the frontal cortices dealing with planning and strategy. The heartbeat thing you mention is the result of the ANS and the attenuation of the Vagus nerve which allows the body to react to the stimulus and sends feedback to the brain. Unfortunately a positive emotional reaction, say pleasure at being appreciated, can lead to heart-rate changes. A lot of work has been done measuring the responses of the mirror neurones that suggest the brain is a social organ as much as an individual one.

It’s a difficult subject because research proceeds in leaps and bounds. It’s almost impossible to keep up. Because things change so rapidly research papers and books are inevitably expensive.

Interesting subject and I believe the processing underlying a lot of spirituality will eventually be resolved by neurophysiology.

I think it can be explained that "out there" isn't emptiness but, as you say, atoms and particles that, at the atomic level at least are electrically charged in a way that they can combine to form homeostatic entities. What an electrical charge actually is I wouldn't care to speculate but it's thought this way conventionally. If you investigate how our senses can be bombarded by these entities, how the senses analyse them even before they're cross-related to our experiences (telling us what they are if previous experience available) it becomes a little clearer, The visual analysis is probably the more complex in the brain, the processing huge, recognising edges, angles, contrasts, analysing colours (separated and stored in different parts of the occipital lobe).

The human is not wired to look at atoms but in their clusters and formations, that with our more gross analysis of these formations appear as objects, scents, audio, etc. It's possible to look on these "things" as signs - because they give meaning to us only through our experiences. Like, for instance, a piece of raw electronic gear - various things soldered to a circuitboard, would probably tell us nothing - whether it's the inside of a smartphone or a part of an SR72 reconnaissance plane... unless we've had prior experience of such things.

Reality is how we interpret these signs or phenomena. What we think we see/hear isn't what's actually out there. It's more like what we think we know.
