In Honor of My Wife

A line of those you helped in life
May greet you at the pearly gates
I said to my love before she passed
She better wear comfortable shoes.

35 years of elderly care
Working nights so she's there for the kids.
Never missing a game or a play or a smile
2 callings committed for life.

Every night at that home she wore that white cap.
The only one there that still did.
The other "professionals" calling on her
For the magical talents she held.

The kids, they grew older
The boy, PhD
The girl got a bachelors
Her patients all died....

But the patients that passed
in the dark of the night
Had more than a nurse
See the life leave their eyes

My wife is with God now
Her Grandbaby's Angel.
The White Cap went with her
As did part of my soul.

No award was she given
In medals or print
But the hearts that she touched
With her kind words and smile
And the children she gave
To this sad crazy world
Gives me hope for us yet.

In Memory of Susan
