Is it normal?
i'm new to meditation, just a little over 2 months, and just some guided meditation before bed time.
I took a few moments in the yard to try to connect a little more to the earth. So there i am meditating, i was really feeling connected, meditating on an image in my head. When i opened my eyes there was a hummingbird in front of me, eye level. He looked at me, i looked at him then he went on his way. i NEVER see hummingbirds
Very happy coincidence or message?
any insight appreciated.

When we reach a certain meditation state or learn to always be in or near it, we become HEART OPEN. It's very attractive to animals and children and wildlife - they like the energy of it and come to it.
When we are heart closed ( concerned with only our monkey mind thoughts and lives) they also perceive this and so stay away.

Interesting.....I think it was some kind of a sign.....you should try to understand what that meant and guess what hummingbird means for you.

Definitely agree with CrystalSong's interpretation. When my heart is fully open I've had experiences with insects/bees/rabbits/birds that would defy logic.
Oddly enough when I meditate outside, no matter the area on the property, I have Ants gravitate to me. I've checked extensively before setting up shop to ensure it wasn't a nest or corridor for them. They don't do anything other than seem to enjoy the energy. One day I had two queen ants one each knee/leg and they were reproducing or however one explains ant's getting down.
