Help Identifying Kachina
Hi guys. I was wondering if you could help me identify some things I picked up at a thrift store recently. I have a big thing for Southwest Native American things (that I am realizing comes from my Great Grandfather), so I end up picking up kachina in remembrance of him. Unless they're labeled, I have no idea which they are. I just spent an hour, easy, trying to identify these, and it was no good.
So I have this one:

I have no idea what it is. I believe it is a maiden because of the shawl, but I don't know for certain.
Then I have a sand painting:

I believe it is of Yei dancers, but I really don't know.
There is some writing on the back, but I can't read the handwriting.

So, if anyone can help, that would rock.

Hopi and Navajo. The "Yeii" is sold in gift shops and stores in the SW, I even sold them at Desert View Trading Post at the Grand Canyon. They are usually incomplete images. Real sand paintings are erased after use. The one you have here, is the kind sold to the tourist. The writing in the back is the artist signature. The "Maiden" is of Hopi Origin.
