What about squirrel nutkin ,he was a funny cheeky fellow, the Owl took his tail ,perhaps he taunted him too much ,Wow there is a real lesson in there ,that Beatrix Potter was teaching us stuff we didnt even realise ,better go back and read Mrs Tiggywinkle again...

They have red's down in the south (of England) too, on Brownsea Island.

Brownsea Reds were established as the genetic pool recently - no greys, no rats, no cats.

Yes that's a good spot. It would be great to see more of them around, all though I often stop & watch the greys going about their business, they can be quite curious.

There are reds on the isle of wight also.
May I ask what they do with any greys straying into that area?

Reds are exclusive to Brownsea Island, the Isle of White has a protection group set up, & I think conservation plays a part too on the mainland & larger islands.
