Fictionkin
Wondering if anyone's heard of this - it's, essentially, otherkin substituting the non-human aspect for fictional characters. Identifying deeply with a character to the point of believing you are/were them in a past life.
What are your opinions on a concept like that? With the infinite universe theory bubbling up in spiritual communities, do you think it's believable enough to consider true?

I identified with a fictional character once. More correct to say though that I didn't believe myself to be the fictional character, but I believed the fictional character to be real and a soulmate and hence we shared a part of each other which was the part I identified with, if you know what I mean.
Now I don't know what I believe, but it felt very real at the time.

Maybe it's a form of metaphoric understanding of oneself, but we can identify with characters without believing we are (or have been) that character.
I have had numerous past life memories, and they have been useful to my understanding in this life. However, whilst I say they are past lives, I'm still aware that that isn't a certainty, and my focus remains on what is useful about the knowing that comes from them.
It is when people become very attached to an identity (even defensive of it)that the 'need' for it comes across, and then, to me it seems less healthy or more of a form of escapism.
