Reading Group: Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life
I wanted to see if any of you would be interested in participating in an online reading group for this book?

They had several copies available at my local library and possibly they will at yours as well.
Let me know if you are interested.
We can decided on a portion for reading each week and then discuss it in chat or here if you like.

Beautydylan, often small libraries are set up on a bigger network and they can do inter-library loans. It's easy.
This is a good idea :)

I am scrapping this idea. I started reading it envisioning a self help book... not so much. More a compilation of the history of the worlds Religions and some of the teaching they feel will help you become more compassionate. Some people may enjoy this. I personally prefer the transformational writing style of Thich Nhat Hanh.

That's too bad - I've really enjoyed this book actually and felt there was great ideas explaining how to become more compassionate, how to turn any suffering being experienced into something better.

Yeah, I enjoy that stuff as well. That is what I like about Thich Nhat Hanh's books. The difference really is just the writing style. Karen focuses on including a thorough background and Thich very much focuses on the lessons.
I didn't realize you had read it. That is awesome. I really love what she is trying to accomplish in the world through the Charter for Compassion.
