Insect symbolism

When a particular insect lands on you do you look up the symbolism surrounding it?

I went to the hairdressers today and inadvertantly brought home a ladybird. It was in the taxi when I first noticed it - persumably it had landed on me while I was waiting - and I assumed it had gone out of the door when I opened it to go home. But 2 hours later I felt a crawling down my arm and realised it was the ladybird! I opened my bedroom window and it found its way out. In a flash of inspiration I decided to look up ladybird, and apparently it means luck and good fortune. I certainly hope so!

Anyone else explored insect symbolism in this way?

no, but a bunch of ladybugs (lady birds) together is called love. someone on here told me that when i was little lady bug.

This is something im interested in... Im always looking up things like this. One thing that has been baffeling me recently is that a few months back I was doing a reiki practise, and saw in my minds eye, a very ugly looking fly, on the persons heart, I cant work out what it means as this is not my dept :)If anyone knows id be very grateful.

If I may suggest about the ugly fly on the heart...

Think about what flies are usually associated with. What type of environment are they found in and so on. It being on the heart of the person probably means they are dealing with issue such as associated with what the fly represents.

I don't do reki but my best friend does she sees things like this often in her sessions. She once saw a thick iron bar sticking through the throat of a woman.
She just reached down and acted as though she was pulling it out. She usually acts upon what she sees if something like that shows up in a session.
Very often these images will appear on or near the chakra that needs work.

Hi Nightowl, I was thinking it probably meant something like what you have suggested, I was just a bit concerned if it could be something more, like something attached, but you are probably right. Im still quite new to reiki myself, so I guess eventually these things will have a meaning to me.

The bit about your freind "pulling it out" has been helpful to me also, as sometimes I have been having the same urge....and doing it, even though I have never heard any other practioners doing it..Phew... Thanks for the advice x x
