Thoughts on a spread

My mind is wandering a bit and I didn't even ask a questions as everything is intermingled. It is has been a while since I did a Celtic Spread but happy for external feedback/interpretation.
Thx Froe

Ace of Cups (cover)
Crossed by The Magician

The Tower (Beneath)
Knight of Cups (Past)
Death (Crown)
9 of wands ( what is before)
Page of Cups (self)
The Star (around)
10 of wands (hopes/fears)
8 of wands (outcome)

hi froebellian,

I don't think you will get any response from the more experienced Tarot readers. So often there will be a post and a comment saying that without "the question" there is nothing to focus upon, and therefore pointless to give an interpretation.

Having said that, another way you can read the cards is to interpret a story that might fit with the lay out of the spread. For example, the first two cards are really very dynamic - if one is to imagine the Magician holding aloft a golden chalice, the Ace of Cups.
Perhaps then, the story is about the Magician's journey as opposed to the more conventional journey of the Fool.

Thanks, I read tarot, but to is hard to be objective and the question(s) we usually ask are not the ones we really want to ask, but feel we ought to...sometimes a general reading is better as it focuses on what we need, rather than what we desire.

hi froe,

What we need, rather than what we desire. I like that!

Ok then, maybe the cards are saying you'll meet a tall dark stranger.
Now before you hit the mouse button, I do like the idea of a pattern, or groupings, that can be followed:

The Magician.

The 8, 9, and 10 of Wands.

The Ace, Knight, and Page of Cups.

The remaining three, the Tower, the Star, and Death.

I'm led to think of a creative project you once worked on that was never fully realized or failed to reach fruition. There may be someone you already know, perhaps a work colleague or even a friend of a friend, who can help you breathe new life into that creative idea. I suppose, if you choose to pick up the reigns again.

I've drawn a blank on what the Death card could mean.

Was I close ?

A Tall Blonde stranger, I prefer blondes!
The Magician.

Well, the book is done as much as I can, now the pitching process. It is a start of a new life, actually committing to writing the series of books now and my friend is a publisher who is helping me and has sent it to a friend, though I feel I need to do it myself as well.

I see Tower and Death as a new beginning and I can't turn back, anchored with the Star, that it is the right direction even if it doesn't seem like it

You are right about the cover card, I am the Magician and can make it happen
Was I close ?
Pretty close, yup... but the project is just beginning and I need some faith in it, mired by the practical realities of life and the guilt of being a starving writer when I am qualified to do so many other things...

Thanks, more food for thought. I feel there is hope. I was thinking of a tall stranger, but that wasn't the question you see... but it was on my mind!

Thanks Froe,

Good luck with your writing project.
I spent several years studying the art of writing but eventually gave up to the fact that I wasn't very good at it. It did however make me a better reader, so it wasn't all wasted time.

Death (crown)

I've had some insight on the Death card.
Sometimes Death really means death. I think this card can often be dangerously underestimated.
Death can mean despair; whatever crushes the soul and welcomes failure.
Death can manifest as a sniveling cold, or any debilitating disease.
Death is the bear trap; unexpected, disasterous.
Death is a warning not to be ignored.

In a Celtic Cross the Death card can merely be highlighting a negative presence. Take for instance the four chambers of the human heart where Death can block the flow and natural order of things, diminishing creativity.
Thereby, Death can at times be viewed as a reversal card, cunningly hidden like a shadow within a shadow.
