Lightbulb I really want to know ...

I know Ive already asked this but nobody answered and If nobody in this forum could answer it I think nobody cant!
Im wondering anyone could help me find out about islam's or other abrahamic religions view on reincarnation? I know most of us have born in a family with a religion.. Christianity and etc.
Im not sure what to believe but I know that Quran is from God and has not been changed or anything.. And Ive read on the net that islam is against reincarnation.. But how could we explain aaaall the stories people saying about past life regressions and flashbacks and so on? Why didnt prophets talk about such important thing!!!?
I think none of the abrahamic religions do exactly believe in that..
Please let me know ur point of view.
Thank you

My point of view is that religion is invented by humans. For example, according to Michael Newton's book, he references that Christianity used to believe in reincarnation, but then the religious leaders thought that people would realize that they have more chances to redeem themselves, so then Christianity got rid of the belief in reincarnation.

Religion is derived from Latin, meaning "To control the masses". Or at least it ought to be! Reincarnation is pretty much a given, since we are all energy - you can't create or destroy energy, it just converts from one from to the next. But alamode is right - if the major religions believed you could come back another time to put right what you once did wrong, what is to stop us committing some terrible crimes, under the assumption that - it's okay I'll put it right in 250 years time? What better way to have people conform, than to persuade them "If you do this your soul will burn forever in the fires of hell"?

I agree here. Religion is based on man-made rules. Not believing doesn't make it not real.

I am currently reading a book on reincarnation, and it brings up a topic about christianity and reincarnation, i know it is not the religion you are asking about, but i thought i would just share.

i am writing word for word from the book. The book is called Journeys to the past, and is written by Judith Jansen (funny enough, when i got the book, and started reading that evening, i realised that this author lives nearby to me....weird!)

ok here it goes: (just excuse the spelling, it might be word for word, but i type fast so)

WHAT ABOUT CHRISTIANITY AND REINCARNATION???

"Christianity did embrace and teach the doctrine of reincarnation, but it was declared "the devil's work" by Emperor Constantine when the church was included in the Roman Empire, and then Emperor Justinian summoned the fifth ecumenical congress of Constantinople in 543 AD which was convened for the expressed purpose of censoring from religious literature and the teachings of the day all references to reincarnation.

The Doctrine of reincarnation was not popular with the nobility of the day since it essentially taught that all men are equal, and this made difficulties for the nobility who wanted to convince the common man of there divinity. How distressing when one considered that he might be in the beggar's place the next lifetime, and the beggar in his place!

Also, the doctrine of reincarnation made man personally responsible for himself and his spiritual development, and promoted the idea that man could find the truth for himself. This was unpopular with the church officials, because "common man" was never encouraged to think for himself.

So reincarnation and the practice of hypnotic techniques to access memories of previous lives we declared "the devil's work"- not by God , but by man. And in spite of efforts to destroy them, there remain several references in the Bible which address the issue of reincarnation (refer Matthew 16:13, Matthew 17:10-13, John 9:1-3, to name but a few.)"

so i thought this was quite interstinf, especially for someone, who has just started out, and asking questions.

That is also why religions have gods. Man is so stuck in materialism that he has no idea what direction he is going. Only a feeling there is more... and he could not be more right. So someone that is not stuck in this would be the one who can show people how to get out of it.

However most people think the most they could expect is a happy new home in heaven. Hay, well, do that for a few million years and you will be back to "there must be more" because there is.
