Pain & Suffering

Curiosity & Courage

It is said..
It's in our nature to avoid pain
Yet, there is truth in pain
So, in avoiding pain
we also avoid truth
The truth about ourselves.

What would happen
if we were to observe pain,
instead of avoiding it
by distracting ourselves from it?

Would it increase in its intensity,
or would it decrease in intensity
maybe
even
eventually
dissolve?

Life can be painful, but suppressing it
is not an effective long-term solution.
Doing that, one constantly has to make an effort
to be on the guard from any feelings of pain.
So, one spends a vast amount of time and energy,
without coming any closer to the end of it.
All the while, in the pretense of making progress.
This illusion often breaks
when one is taken by an unexpected mishap.
And one has to come to terms with,
not only the current pain,
but also the old suppressed pain.
Overwhelmed by the totality of all this pain,
one usually distracts oneself from it again,
making a knot. The knot of depression.

The greatest fear, is of fear itself: Anxiety.
Suffering is caused by avoiding pain.

The Happy Conspiracy

Choosing to be happy over being sad,
suppressing the latter,
in constant apprehension
until it erupts
and one is forced to confront it.

Learning from this experience,
only to forget its hard-earned wisdom
and showing ungratefulness
by returning to the habit of avoiding sadness.

Why choose at all?
How about letting happiness and sadness
naturally express themselves
in their true colours?

Effortlessly being,
without chasing a particular state of mind.
Letting them come and go as they please,
in a state of peace.

Pain is necessary to give birth to consciousness.
Avoiding it
by seeking temporary comfort
in "intellectual wisdom"
is self-deception.
Seek the wisdom of your pain
and maintain a practice that honours it.

Belief-system/Preconceptions

Preconceptions ): preconceived ideas or prejudice, without direct experience.

I see
preconceptions
as
structures of thought,
binded by emotions.
The destruction of the structures
will be resisted emotionally,
by responses such as pain:
Cognitive dissonance.

The ego is the greater sum of all structures.

..you can not dissolve 'the ego'
by attempting to resist it.
But, on the contrary,
by letting go
of making any such attempts;
"simply" observing it with awareness;
without rejecting
or indulging
in its thoughts
and respective emotions.
