I just want to start a different kind of discussion about twin flames. (Note: this is not to bash the concept of tfs or to say that it does not exist.) What I want to do, is really step back and look at it more objectively. First I would like to share this video offering an alternate view of what many people who think they are experiencing a tf might really be experiencing. Note that she acknowledges that the concept of tfs IS present in many ancient texts and traditions, and therefore, may very well be legitimate. However, according to her, it may have been hijacked and what many may be experiencing could be a counterfeit...

Next, I would like to share this video as I have been watching this channel and relate to a lot of what she discusses.

When she discuss the tf "looping in the mind" or the "barking dog" analogy; I can certainly relate to that in what I experienced. Now before anyone claims this is fear porn. I do not post this video to encourage fear; but awareness. I do not believe we need to be afraid of anything in the spirit realm, however, if we are not aware of dangers, we are more likely to fall prey to them. I am a big believer in promoting awareness, as well as becoming more aware of darker aspects of ourselves and our external world, so as not to fall victim to them.
She also discusses that there may be true soulmates/ twin flames that experience interference from the negative as opposed to the entire experience being a set up from the negative. Maybe both are happening, but how do we really know which we are experiencing? (Thoughts?)
She also briefly touches on trauma bonding, as well as the whole idea of the empath/narcissist relationship. Let's not ignore the fact that the "twin flame stages" are the same as the stages of narcissistic abuse.
Furthermore along the lines of the thinking in this video, if we go back into Greek mythology, we have the concept of Cupid, who supposedly shot people with an arrow making them fall in love. But how many know that Cupid had an "evil twin" or dark side, called Eros. Eros is considered by some to be the demonic side of cupid. His bow had spiked sticks, chains or flames on the end of it (and I couldn't help but think of twin flames when I saw that). His arrow caused unrequited love and often caused people to become physically ill or even die. (I am unable to locate the source where I obtained this information now.)
But so as not to make it all doom and gloom, I have found that the concept of the other half of the soul is mentioned in numerous texts and traditions.
This woman claims it is written of in the Zohar, Christian and Norse traditions, as she discussed in the following video:

https://youtu.be/7GeAd3QxHTI
I have also found numerous passages in the Nag Hammadi scriptures that discuss how we were originally androgynous and our rulers/ supposed creators, being worried about our power, split us in half and separated us. This story is woven throughout the text. Just one example from The First Revelation of James:
God, the ruler (or Archon) of the realms and the powers, angrily divided us. Then we became two beings...
In Exegesis on the Soul, it discusses the "marriage of the soul" and how the female soul wonders around searching and having sex with different males, who use her until she finds her other half. The texts states:
This marriage is different. When the partners join with each other, they become a single life and states:
They will become a single flesh...
This reminds me of Hermeticism, in which we embark on the hero's journey (path to enlightenment), at the conclusion of which we reach union. This is where the "new age" gets the teachings of the alchemical marriage. But is it a union with self, a union with the divine or a union with our other half? Or all 3?
Along the hero's journey we encounter our "eternal soulmate" (not to be confused with what we call a soulmate today) who is supposed to help awaken us by providing us with tough lessons.
The 2 halves of the soul can also be equated to Shiva and Skakti in Hinduism.
Point is, this concept spans over a vast number of cultures and traditions. But going back to the original video, has it been hijacked? Is what most who think they are experiencing a tf really experiencing something else? What I think she is saying in the video, is that true tfs would have obtained so much spiritual advancement that they would not experience a lot of what you see going on with supposed tfs.
What do you guys think? Thoughts? Opposing views?
