How do you pray and who do you pray for?

I think it's interesting to hear how others pray and who they pray for. I do not formally pray, I usually pray within my head.I sometimes use prayer lines for myself and others. I am always careful to pray for others on the site before asking for my prayers. I seldom kneel to pray. I pray for myself of course, my friends and family if they are having troubles, and I pray for the people on the news. For instance if I hear someone has been struck by a car or shot, I pray for their recovery. I also pray the perpetrator will be caught and brought to justice. If someone is killed or dies I pray for their soul, their friends and family left behind and that any perpetrators will be caught.

My sister says she prays for everyone in the family every day for protection, prosperity, healing etc. An acquaintance says he kneels to pray, and begins, "Lord I humbly come before you..." This surprised me because he is a millionaire and I wrongfully assumed he contributed his success to himself without God's help.

I pray specifically to "The God who Sent Jesus Christ" and I close my prayers with the words "In The Name of Jesus Christ, Amen". The reason I pray to "The God who Sent Jesus Christ" is because I am not convinced that the correct pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton (YHVH) is "Jehova". The word "Jehova" dates from the 13th century, and Jesus certainly never used that word to address the God who sent Him. The majority of scholars say that a more likely correct pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton is "Yahwe", but they can not say so with absolute certainty. Then there is the added problem that the Gnostics believed that the God who sent Jesus is different from the God of the Old Testament (whom they called the Demiurge). This doctrine could be true or false, but I am not certain either way. So; just to be safe, I solve this problem by specifically addressing my prayers to "The God Who Sent Jesus Christ". Mostly I pray that the Holy Spirit guide me.

I pray kinda like you, Parma.

At the beginning of meditation I talk to God more personally, tho...
not asking to help a friend thru a hard time or for a deceased loved one,
at that time.
I talk to 'Him' more about how amazing He is.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I pray by coming to the Lord and saying "You know I am nothing without You, so what is it that You would have me do?" I also talk to Him about how amazing He is and how much I love Him, yet I feel that He knows what's in my heart and mind before I ask it. A lot of the time, I ask "how may I serve You today?...what more of mine can I give You that You don't already have?" quite often, there are no words and I'm just happy to be in that space.

If I have a problem, I don't ask Him for a solution. I just say; "I have a problem, Lord...but You know best" or I just parrot the Serenity Prayer, asking for Serenity, Courage and Wisdom", but most times, I just say "I am here, my immortal beloved...do whatever you will for I am eternally Yours".
