I had my Misty euthanised, as she was suffering from terminal Hemangiosarcoma, and had severe internal bleeding with no options for treatment at that advanced stage.
It was a very peaceful passing and very quick, and released her.
It is a hard thing to cope with, I know.
It took me a month to completely wake up and realise she was ok. Up until then I was unsure what happens to them.
When I DID find out, I also found out that she had a completely life-filled body, exactly like the one she left behind, was happy and in no more pain. Only in another dimension!
So although they all love life so very much and are happy to put up a fight to stay here with us, setting them free from a body that doesn't work any more is a gentle and kind thing to do.
Then they find their own level, as all spirits do. They are, like us, spirits having a physical experience. From there, they can sometimes come back to visit!
I am thinking of you, because I know this isn't easy.

I think the best part of them visiting us after death is proof that they in fact loved you just as much as you loved them, and they visit you to reassure and miss you just as a human family member would do. Yes, Tobi, the most humane thing to do is end their suffering. My last dog Riggs had cancer as well and it was exremely difficult because it took him three injections before he finally passed...it was torture! I am going to be with my dog, Maul as well, but it is hard to watch, but I need to bewith him when he goes, he needs me near his side. Aw, man, I am tearing up again, ugh!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog jenriggs.
About a month ago I lost my dog Sasha. She died in my arms, in my room, with all my family around her. I keep reliving that morning over and over again. Sasha passed almost a month after my best friend and my grandma passed away. So I was already going through bad times. Two months before that my favorite uncle died.
After her death I still heard Sasha growling at the bedroom door so I could let her in like she used to every night. I saw her run in the bathroom with my daughter and by her bed in our bedroom. My sister also had a dream about her. She said Sasha looked like she did when she was about 2 and she was with a woman with long black hair and about the same complexion as myself or a bit darker. I believe this woman is one of my spirit guides.
I miss my dog so much and get teary eyed everytime I see a picture of her.

Hi Jenriggs.
I've met my beloved "Ringo" a few times in my dreams ..not sure if it was lucid.
In one dreams I was sitting on an embankment smoking. "Ringo" and another black dog something like a dingo gently took my cigarettes from my hands and the packet one by one..then buried them out in the paddock before me.

I had a dream not long ago that turned lucid, I was aware that I was in a dream, fighting hard to not wake up. I had walked into my house and my dog that had passed a few years ago saw me, started wagging his tail and then ran up to me just like he had not seen me in a long time. I woke up as soon as we made contact. I have no doubts his soul or animal spirit or whatever you want to call it crossed over and is waiting for me on the other side.
