Imagine the context of a manipulative story teller who has a knowledge of how easy it is to make people forget what is absolutely obvious in their experience and though the answer is right in front of them they seem to pretend it's not somehow.

If we are repeatedly told stories of searching for something we presume is lost then are we just pretending something is lost or are we pretending the obvious is hidden in plain view?
