Hi Topology,

Ahhh...there it is, and here is how it works for me:

I often agree with Xan (or anybody else) and because they have said something well, there is no need to add my 2 cents - I've already recognized it in identifying with their offering 'as my own'.

I often may agree with Xan (or anybody else) in principle - but not agree with, or prefer how any particular thing was said, but that is their unique expression. I may at that time, elect to say what I understand as that same thing in my own way as an offering, another way to look at the same proposition - and that is what any post is (imho) - a proposition, not a mandate.

I may completely disagree with Xan (or anybody else) in which case there is an option as a member to comment and provide another view.

However...
I do not make the grievous error of seeing Xan as my mommy* who has to please me through everything she says or I am going to throw a tantrum on every bloody thread like a 2 year-old.

Likewise, if I show appreciation for someone's offering, it doesn't necessarily mean I am nominating them as the Best Mommy or Strongest Daddy on the forum, and everyone else can go sulk in a dark corner. As a matter of fact I often eschew or defer showing appreciation here just because it unfortunately creates jealousy. I figure that people have read whatever it is, and I have faith that with or without my approval, they have the God-given ability to see if it works for them.

I see repeatedly people honing in on one narrow little portion of the whole enchilada - so how hard can it be to 'win' that portion of the row?

Yes the enchilada has been picked to death. For that comment, I'll give you my piece of enchilada, I think I've gorged enough of it already. :)

Do you see how your use of Xan's name simply created a stepping stone or stairway going down/going up to your name.....makes sense to me in light of my own seeing.....of not only her but where your coming from too..funny how the simplest affect can bring about the greatest impact on others..meaning me of course in that seeing today....
