It's a really effective technique. Your thread has inspired me to do it more regularly, hmmm maybe half an hour?

I checked it out this morning, timing the hold at the end of rounds 1 & 4. For round 1 it was 1:19 and for 4 it was 1:49. I hit something like 1:52 once.
I get the best result when the inhale is long and not too fast, not forced or straining chest and shoulder muscles, and the exhale is just letting breath out without any effort whatsoever, transitioning to inhalation when it seems I'd need to consciously force more air out. I've only been doing this regularly for maybe ten days so I'm still experimenting.
I can imagine what would happen if I blew past 30 breathes and continued for half an hour. Somewhere around the 4 or 5 minute mark I'd probably fall out of my chair, being that I was unconscious. LOL.
Wim Hof suggest laying down or sitting on a couch for his method and I sit in the same chair I use for meditation. It's a nice multi-adjustable office chair sans the arms.
For the other method to induce altered states of consciousness I've seen a couple of YouTube vids and they are always lying down and under supervision. I don't imaging it would be advisable to practice that technique alone.
