Yes, as kundalini energy begins to move old hidden fears may come to the surface. It's a good thing because now they are more conscious so you can face and release them. One way is to include them in your deep heart, which holds no fear.

Question.... (I haven't read all 410 posts sorry!!!) How does one know he's experienced Kundalini awakening? Or does that someone just "know"? Plus, what changes actually take place, in his mind, and well... possibly how he continues living the life he does... Does he suddenly quit his desk job because he thinks it's pointless? Or... I don't know... I really don't... All I know about Kundalini awakening are the things I saw in Youtube (I honestly find them a *bit* unreliable I guess?)

Hi Sybilline,

This is an annoying answer for some, but if you've experienced a Kundalini awakening you will know, there is no doubt about it. It comes in varying forms suited to what the individual needs for their own development, but the physcial symptoms are so extreme and leave you with no doubt that something very massive is happening. Sometimes people who are not spiritually aware might think they are going mad or are mentally ill because a sudden impression of psychic phenonema is a common (although probably not universal) sign. Another symptoms are extreme heat and cold, tingling/crawling sensations around head, heat and cold down body and spine, feelings of bliss or conversely depression, aches and pains, pins and needles, basically a strong feelling of energy flooding through your system. All these symptoms can occur on and off for a lot of people, but Kundalini produces them with abundance and takes them off the scale, at least at the beginning.

So yes, you do just 'know' but you know because of what is experienced in the body.

I find that a lot of references to Kundalini on the net, particularly sites that link it to yoga, don't give a true representation of what it is. They suggest you can simply experience bliss or, like you say, feel a sudden urge to up and leave a job. But I don't think Kundalini is always like that. There is far more to it and it is absolutely not as 'wishy washy' as some portrayals make out. It can actually be a very frightening, but ultimately important and enlightening, experience. It makes you face your demons, let go of attachments, and thins the veil between worlds. It has to be managed carefully for it is a big deal.

Oh... So it is actually felt both in mind and body! Very interesting indeed... Is this what they call "Mastery"? Or is that something else completely?

Glad it was helpful. I have no idea about mastery - it's not a word I personally would use - so to my mind they are different. Kundalini is connected to enlightenment which may be the link you are making, but not everyone who has experienced Kundalini is aware that something spiritual is taking place and may think instead that they are mentally or physically ill. I think Kundalini paves the way towards enlightenment but I'm not sure if it is the only way. I don't know why some people meditate for years and never experience it whereas others (like myself) meditate for a relatively short period of time and suddenly have an awakening. I suspect there's a lot more to this than we can conceive of and it might relate to what we've come here on this Earth to do. i don't know. But I don't think people who have awakened Kundalini are any more evolved than people who haven't. It's just another pathway.

Yes Kundalini is extremely physcial, in fact more physcial for me than anything else. Overnight I experienced incredible symptoms and psychic stuff, it was extraordinary. I could never have envisaged it.

Sybilline... Kundalini is just one part of awakening energies and consciousness, and doesn't happen for everyone waking up.

If you want to know more about it you might check out the links in post #2.

Thanks Xan! I didn't realize that this was an old post, it's still a good topic :))

I have another question... There are people saying it's dangerous.
Was that just fear?

Some people have fear about kundalini from scary stories they have heard and are more focused on the dangers than the benefits.

In my view, when the process is pushed through an intense practice there's likely to be a good bit of discomfort temporarily. Letting it happen naturally, and with learning and understanding and letting go, most times it can have some uncomfortable side effects for a while... or for some, not even that. It depends at least somewhat on how you handle it.

Thanks Xan. Another really strange thing has happened. I wonder if it relates to an opening of my root chakra and like you say the release of old fears? I'd just come out of a short period of depression but didn't feel 'numb' as such. I read something terrible that had happened to a friend of a friend. It was so upsetting that normally it would have been in tears for a couple of days ago. The 'empath ' label fits me quite well. I avoid the news and TV because I find it hard to deal with suffering. But on this occasion I felt a separation between the pain of those concerned and my own. I still cared and felt very emotional, but the agonising pain I normally feel in response was gone. It was so strange that initially I thought something must be 'wrong' with me. But then when speaking to someone I was struck by the thought that perhaps I am finally developing emotional boundaries - I can feel compassion yet not be taken over by the suffering of others. I can't put into words how unusual this is for me.

I am relating it to Kundalini because I think a lot of activity is going on in my root chakra. Yesterday's meditation left me feeling incredibly fluey and weak and with a couple of episodes of 'fight or flight' which then passed. I've been experiencing muscle twitching in that area and the tops of my legs. Since the root chakra involves grounding and security I'm guessing a connection exists. I've also been getting some very intense dreams that all seem to relate to fear.

Anyway, this is such a big thing for me because taking on the pain of others has always been so hard.
