The meaning of Babylon

I am currently studying Revelations with a study group with a particular focus on Babylon. I am interested to hear what others have to say about it. What does Babylon signify to you, what is its role in history both literally and figuratively?

Well, to start things off isn't she both a woman AND a city? I'm no expert, but I believe Babylon can mean anything flakey like "woman is Creation" to modern civilisations.

Babylon the great= false religions.
At the tower of Babel ( the first false religion) God confused their languages and sent them to separate parts of the earth--taking with them false gods and practices
Rev teaches--she fornicates with the kings of the earth( voting them into power, allowing members to kill for them in the wars of hatred, runs for offices--God says they are corrupt( depravity)-2Peter 2:19) a follower of Christ would never vote for corruption or kill for them,etc) Rev teaches--she rides on the back of the beast(govts)= untaxed religions.
It also states she will be cast into the sea with a millstone around her neck( destroyed quickly) they will strip her of her fleshy parts( wealth)-- it also says-- the merchants stand at a distance and mourn that event, because their shelves remain full( no more religious holidays)

This starts the tribulation( locking of the door to the ark per-se)--if the shelves are full so are the factory shelves--worldwide layoffs of many jobs all at once. In fact --the very next prophecy in line to occur-- whenever they are saying, peace and security, sudden destruction will be upon them( Babylon the great)It teaches--God puts it into their hearts to do this)--the tribulation-then Har-mageddon--all these events are close--only 1% tops see it coming.
Its as Jesus taught it would be---As in the days of Noah( 99% mislead) the world took no note.

In Revelations, 2:22 it talks about the women who is cast into the bed and the followers of her are the ones that commit adultery with her. ‘Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.’ This is a warning about all of the false religions/gospels in the world. In Revelations 18, verses 2 to 5 it says about Babylon the Great. ‘And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying , Babylon the Great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.’ This is not telling people to get out of a city that was destroyed thousands of years ago. It is warning people now to get out of the organized religions in this world that are drinking and selling their false religions. The false teachings are adultery to God and there is an abundance of adultery in the religions today. The people in these religions are not aware of this at all. They blindly follow their blind leaders and the blind are following the blind into the pit of judgment.


Revelations chapter 16, verse 19, where it states; ‘And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath’. Get out of all the organized religions in the world today. They are all false religions and we have been warned in Revelations to get out of them!

All but one are false. Jesus started one new religion--it died back when the apostles and followers were all murdered--the great apostasy arose-2Thess 2:3--Catholicism and all of her branches( trinities)--but during Jesus presence( during the last days)--he promised to appoint his faithful and discreet slave( anointed teachers) over all his belongings--he did. They became as the followers back then--fishers of men.

rev 14:3--144,000 are bought from the earth--virgins-meant--( symbolic for)nothing to do with false religions or govts. Every govt on the earth will be mislead to stand in opposition to Gods king at Har-mageddon--as well the armies and supporters for patriotism.-rev 16--rev 19: 17:19--the result=Daniel 2:44--I believe 99% will be standing on the wrong side.
